"HOORAYYY"-Everyone
Do you feel that Giants fans?
Do you have that weird feeling on your face? Yep, me too.
It’s called “smiling,” and for us Giants fans this past month, we have done no such thing. We have been dissappointed, sour, and outraged.
The Giants have lost a whole lot more than they have won in the past 30 games or so. That’s a stone-cold fact. That fact makes our hands tremble and our eyes water.
I have some good news though: Miguel Tejada and Aaron Rowand have been designated for assignment (or “DFA’d”).
No more will we have to punch a innocent pillow whenever Rowand swings at a slider in the dirt, missing it by a yard. No More!
No more Tejada, with his limited defense and lifeless bat. He is not a Giant anymore.
With this move, the Giants purchased the contract of second baseman Brett Pill from AAA Fresno. Amen! Another good move by Sabean today. Finally the logical choice has been made to bring up the most offensively productive prosepect in the Giants farm system.
To give you an idea of how good this kid has been, his slash line is .312/.341/.530, he has hit 167 hits, 25 home runs and has brought in 107 RBIs in 133 games. He was the first pro-ball player to reach 100 RBIs this year. He has also spent time playing first base (83 games), second base (57 games), third base (1 game) and left field (2 games) this season.
But that’s not all the good news.
Pat Burrell (who was on a rehab stint in Fresno), was recalled and will be available to start Friday. Thank you Brian Sabean. just when I was ready to call it a season, you give me life. You finally insert a home run hitter. That man is Pat “the Bat” Burrell and I don’t care how old/handsome he may be, he is starting.
I dont expect Pill to get much playing time in the final month, but I really hope he does. A lineup that has a core that consists of a red-hot Jeff Keppinger, Pablo Sandoval, Brandon Belt and Pat Burrell, Pill can get some decent production in the Majors.
As for the sad stories of, now ex-giants, Rowand and Tejada. Good bye. The Giants are better without them, and I’m glad Sabean had the guts to let them go.
‘Tis a great day. Go giants.
